UVA Telehealth has a partnership with the Health Wagon, a nonprofit providing mobile health services to the medically underserved in Southwest Virginia. Together, we provide state of the art telemedicine capabilities and connect patients to specialists in Charlottesville.

Multiple UVA-Wise graduates will join UVA's Virginia College Advising Corps to help high school students in Southwest Virginia explore all of their higher education options.

UVA helps address the opioid crisis by dedicating expertise and resources from an array of disciplines to tackle the problem throughout the state, including Virginia's most rural areas.

UVA played a big role in establishing the Clinch River Valley Initiative (CRVI), a multi-partner effort to build local economies in Southwest Virginia by leveraging the natural assets of the Clinch River.

The Appalachian Prosperity Project is a collaborative partnership among the University of Virginia, UVA’s College at Wise, the Coalfield region, the private sector, and the state to advance education, health, and economic prosperity in Southwest Virginia.

A new clinic at UVA-Wise, overseen by a UVA healthcare provider, endeavors to address the region's shortage of providers and provide onsite learning opportunities for Wise nursing students.
